In fact, I went to great lengths to get a couple of shots...right Deirdra and Joshua? wink wink (I almost fell off of a structure during photos!!) Wow...where do I start? Well...I guess I start at the beautiful house on the ocean that looked like something out of a movie set! That is where Constantin and Jennifer got ready for thier gorgeous wedding. After the first look, the two went down to the beach and was later joined by family and the wedding party for oceanside photos. After an elegant ceremony in Cape Elizabeth, we headed off to the Dunegrass for some food and great times! Jeff Rockwell's DJ Larry kept the dance floor going well into the night! The sparklers for the departure was the icing on the cake for one of the most photogenic weddings I've ever done (not to mention fun!)Here are some highlights!

Who ever coined "rain on your wedding day is good luck" is right! Monica and Derrick's wedding was beautiful. I don't think Monica ever took a smile from her face the whole day...a sure sign that she enjoyed her wedding day despite the weather! Natasha and Miguel's wedding in Puerto Rico-4/11/10

I recently had the wonderful pleasure to travel to Puerto Rico (on a whirlwind trip I might add!) to photograph Natasha and Miguel's wedding! We arrived at the Villa Montana in Islabella at 3:00am on Saturday morning and we were up by 10:30 ready to explore! The weather was probably in the 90's that day but coming from Maine it felt really good. After walking the beach and grabbing some food, we caught up with Natasha and Miguel in their villa to discuss the next day. Neither one of them had ever been to the resort before so the shots were pretty much in my hands (I had never been there either!). Of course the next day came and went and 1000 images were shot and the wedding looked like something out of a magazine! So FUN! Here are a few album pages from the album that I am making for the resort. Enjoy! Oh and...here is a little movie I made about our trip (I'm not a movie maker but click here if you dare!

Workshop with David Beckstead

I recently had the amazing opportunity to train with one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the world, David Beckstead. He has an amazing artistic eye and really shoots outside of the "safe zone" which is what he is all about in his workshops. It happened to be a rainy day in Maine (something we encounter quite often) so it was actually much more helpful to me than if it was a sunny day. We photograhed models in an old warehouse in Brunswick with just natural light. This also happened to be the day that I had to leave to shoot a destination wedding in Puerto Rico so my time was precious...but I wasn't going to miss this chance and I didn't. I made my flight to Puerto Rico that night and all was well. You will read about that in my next blog post!

Well...I was able to get away during my slow season and GET MARRIED. Yes that's right I ran away with my fiance Dave and had a destination wedding in Maui, Hawaii on January 12, 2010! The photos that I have posted were taken by Dot Freeland on the day of the wedding (not me of course!) Now that being a bride is fresh in my mind, I will be sure to keep in mind a few things when doing other couples' weddings. I really did learn a bit being on the other side of the camera (like I was ready for her to be DONE so we could go eat!!!) :) We had a wonderful time!!!

This destination wedding was a spectacular one! Maine's own DJ Dave Dionne and I traveled to Rockledge, FL to a gorgeous private home on the Atlantic Ocean side of Florida. The amazing southern hospitality we experienced made us feel right at home! The temps in Florida were in the 50's that day so it actually felt more like Christmas in New England!...well, not exactly! :) Amy and Brendon had Christmas red and green and ocean blue for their wedding colors. We had a great time shooting portraits after the ceremony and we even staged our own fake reality shot...Brendon getting arrested! That was one of the groomsmen's idea. The contrast of the holiday feel with palm trees swaying in the background seemed surreal to me and beautiful at the same time! The highlight of the night was definitely when the Christmas carolers pulled in on a horse drawn hay wagon and sang holiday songs including "Let it Snow"! This was unplanned and it was a perfect way to end the night. It sent chills up my spine! Congratulations Amy and Brendan! I felt truly honored to be a part of your beatiful wedding.

December 4th was a gorgeous day in December and perfect for a winter wedding! Amy and Chancey's ceremony and reception took place at the ever-so-lovely Bethel Inn in Bethel, ME! The Bethel Inn's Christmas decor looked amazing with Amy's choice of colors which were red and teal green. We were able to do some outdoor photos near the gazebo before the ceremony as the weather was very mild that day. Bethel Inn does an amazing job and fun was had by all!

Well...there I was at Sebasco Harbor Resort on my only day off of the wedding season taking photos of the DJ Dave Dionne working a wedding. The photos were to be for his destination wedding web-site! I noticed that the photographer shooting the wedding was obviously an amatuer and I politely asked if she would like my help (Sebasco lawn weddings are tricky becauase you are shooting into the sun). She was a very very kind person and was obviously just trying to help the bride and groom save a little money. She was extremely thankful for my help because she found the lighting very difficult (she only had a pop-up flash). I shot alongside her for the whole wedding (pro bono) Here is a little sneak preview of what I was able to shoot. I only brought one set of batteries that day, one memory card and only one lens (I usually have 5). But I was very happy to lend a hand that day and I will not take a cent for this wedding. It was my gift to a stranger.
NOTE: I strongly suggest using a professional photographer for your wedding! We usually don't appear out of nowhere to save the day!

I had so much fun with this couple that it was silly! They actually stopped at a gas station for fun "gassing up" photos! Really! ...and a yard sale too!! We also did really great chair lift shots at the mountain! We had fun with the stone texture creating kind of a "castle" feel for the group photos and of the bride and groom! We all headed back to the Eastland for the reception with DJ Dave Dionne Entertaining us well into the night! As usually, the ever so elagant Eastland Park Hotel did a fabulous job!

Somebody pinch me! Lisa and Stephen gave me the amazing opportunity to go back to the Dominican Republic for another destination wedding! This time at the spectacular all-inclusive Melia Caribe Tropical! Wow...of course words cannot express how truly amazing this destination wedding was. I don't think anyone stopped smiling the whole time! Lisa, Stephen and thier family and friends were so gracious and kind...once again, I felt like part of the family! After fun beach photos, we all headed to the Salons Tropical for the reception which was DJ'd by Maine's own Dave Dionne. What a BLAST!

I had a wonderful time photographing this wedding at the home of the bride's parents in Falmouth! The reception was held at the ever so quaint China Rose restaurant in Brunswick. The day actually started off with a brisk walk around Mackworth Island with coffee in hand! What a fun group! There was wild and crazy dancing and unexpected singing by the bride, her mother and other guests! There certainly was NEVER a dull moment at this very very beautiful wedding!

I love Christmas weddings and this was no exception! I got onto The Nonantum's "prefered vendors" list because of this wedding! This couple was adorable! The Nonantum was all decked out with Christmas decorations so my job was pretty easy! I was able to shoot without a flash with just a medium to low ISO becuase the room was well lit but still romantic looking! When I did use my flash, I bounced my light off of the side walls to make my lighting look a little bit more interesting as I was dodging around everywhere. The Nonantum did a fabulous job as well as Fred Parpalado, the DJ!

I had the pleasure of photographing Michelle and Chris' wedding at Saddleback Mountain on 11/15/08! I had not been there since I went skiing there as a kid! It had changed alot! Sometimes it's difficult to photograph a wedding entirely indoors but I took advantage of some of the textures there (like the stone fireplace) and my fisheye lens to help capture the "castle in the mountains" type feel that was going on! It was a very intimate wedding and very very fun!

I have to admit, I was a little intimidated when Paul Schuster (a Washington, D.C. wedding photographer) called ME to ask me if I would photograph his wedding in Maine. I really ended up relaxed and had a great time! The ceremony was at St. Martha's Church in Kennebunk and the reception was held at the award winning Harraseeket Inn inn in Freeport. We were able to get to the beach for photos in Kennebunk and it ended up being a pretty warm day for November 1st! We headed back to the Harraseeket where DJ Dave Dionne was waiting for us in the cocktail area. I was so hungry that yes...I gobbled down a bit of the food (am I suppose to?) I still haven't figured that out! Fun was had by all!!

I hope everyone had a very happy new year! I'm very excited to announce that I will be launching a new web site specifically for destination weddings! I will have 3 web sites now! That will be coming soon. I am plugging away at finishing up my 2008 weddings. I still have a few to post on-line, I still have proof books and CD's to get out and I still have some albums to finish up! My associate photographer, Karen and I were very busy in 2008! My album designer, Alexandra is working hard trying to get her album designs done! She has been doing a spectacular job! I am looking forward to going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic again for a destination wedding AND to Key Largo for one as well! If anyone is considering a destination wedding, contact me! I have some great advice! I do destination weddings from January through April. Back here in Maine and New England, I still have lots of Summer Saturdays open but I am booking quickly so they are starting to fill up! But please check with me to see my availability! Karen (my associate) is a spectacular wedding photographer too and she takes weddings for me when I am booked. Seriously consider Karen as well! I photographed Kelly and Richard's wedding at the First Parish Congregational Church in Yarmouth, Maine and the reception at Val Halla Country Club in Cumberland! These people never stopped having fun! They even had fun before the ceremony! I had a blast photographing this wedding. I loved the leaves on the ground for the portrait shots! Jenessa and Chris got married at one of my favorite little secret places...Hilton Winn Farm in Cape Neddick, ME! I had done one other wedding there (the wedding is featured on my web site!)so when they told me of their venue, I was so excited! It's a quaint little farm with a fabulous barn for the reception area. The food is catered by the owners and WOW...they go all out! It always looks so "Martha" and to me...that's a good thing! Wow...did I just say that? Jenessa and Chris, their family and friends were incredibly kind and they certainly know how to have FUN!!! When I arrived at Wolf Cove Inn, I realized I had met Rebecca before...several times! She was a bridesmaid in a wedding I did and a guest at another! In fact, a lot of the people at that wedding looked very familiar! WOW...I would highly recommend Wolf Cove Inn for your wedding! What a beautiful setting. The food was great, the service was great, the scenery was breathtaking! Perfect! This crowd was FUN and the entertainment of the Don Campbell band didn't hurt! This was an amazing time. I met Lisa and Mitch back in early '08 at Border Books cafe and I really thought they were great! They told me that their wedding was going to be in Windham at a house on Sebago Lake. I never really gave it much more thought but when I got there on August 29, 2008 I couldn't believe my eyes! Her father owns the most gorgeous piece of property on Sebago lake with the most spectacular house that I've ever seen in Maine! The setting was breathtaking! The people were more than fun! The couple was beautiful (the pictures speak for themselves) and more importantly very very kind! DJ Dave Dionne entertained us well into the night and the guests had so much fun, he ended up extending his time there! FUN FUN FUN!

WOW...what can I say? This was such a wonderful wedding. Boy with all of the bad weather we had this summer this weather couldn't have been more perfect on August
23rd! Debbie and Paul had their wedding out on the lawn by the ocean at Stonehouse Manor in Phippsburg, Maine! After the ceremony, the guests mingled, had cocktails, played croquet, horseshoes, volleyball...you name it! After cocktails (and photos of course) we all went into the tent for the reception! Stonehouse does a wonderful job with food and service. What a day! This was truly an event that everyone will always have fond memories of (including me!)

I have been having the time of my life shooting destination weddings! This was my ultimate goal in wedding photography and I've finally reached it. I have met some amazing couples like this one, Jackie and Sean. They were married at Bolongo Bay Resort in the US Virgin Island of St. Thomas. What an amazing couple! They immediately made me feel welcome and part of the family. Bolongo is a really laid back beach resort with a local flare which made it feel more real...more like we were part of the Island community. I would highly recommend it! Here are a few pics from the event!! I will try to put as many weddings on my blog this summer as possible but sometimes it's a bit hard. I have 36 weddings this summer! I LOVE IT!!!

WOW....somebody pinch me!!! I just got home from the most beautiful place in the world...Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for Tessa and Patrick's destination wedding! I have the best job in the world! Not only did I meet the sweetest people ever but I got to travel (and I LOVE to travel) to a place that I have never seen. When Tessa called me to go to Punta Cana, I have to admit...I didn't know where it was! Boy, what a surprise...white sandy beaches, aqua water, very friendly natives that liked to say "hola" alot...wink wink!, the all-inclusive, palm trees, consistent 83 degree weather! What a gorgeous wedding!!! Words cannot describe it so the here is a glimpse! I would highly recommend the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for all you destination brides!!

I started the wedding season of 2008 with a bang!! What a spectacular wedding this was. Wow...I didn't know Jackson, NH was so beautiful! Kate and Tony were married at the gorgeous, historical Wentworth Castle. What an amazing place! It had a very European feel as they exchanged vows outdoors in January! Greetings from Kim. I have been a bad blogger lately I know. I left off in September because I was swamped with 2 and 3 weddings per weekend. I will be catching up over the winter and putting the rest of my weddings on for 2007. I just returned from the Cayman Islands with my two older kids for a much needed break. I am resting and gearing up for 2008. I have 31 weddings booked already for 2008 but a lot of those are Friday and Sunday dates so I still have some prime Saturdays open. I will be posting some photos from the Caymans as well as the rest of my weddings! I am in the album process now and will be finishing up by the end of March! I had never been to the "rock" to take photos...so I got to ride in the golf cart with the newlyweds while our driver graciously drove us there.
